Phuket Elephant Conservation is a small, eco-conscious elephant center in Phuket, operated by the sixth generation of a family that has lovingly cared for elephants for over 160 years. This deep-rooted connection reflects a legacy of traditional knowledge, respect, and compassion for Asian elephants that has been passed down through generations.

At the heart of our mission is a strong commitment to animal welfare. We firmly believe that responsible and ethical elephant tourism can play a meaningful role in the preservation of the Asian elephant—when it is built upon the highest standards of care, respect, and empathy. We strictly oppose any harmful, exploitative, or unnatural practices and strive to continually raise the bar in elephant care, welfare, and public education.

We are proud to operate a growing network of ethical elephant parks across Southern Thailand, including Phang Nga Elephant Park and the Khaosok Elephant Conservation Centre, with our newest site—Khaolak Elephant Conservation—opening soon. Each location reflects our shared vision: to provide a safe haven for elephants, to educate visitors on ethical interaction, and to promote truly sustainable, compassionate tourism.

Ethical & Sustainable Elephant Experiences

Each elephant receives personalized care from mahouts—many with over 20 years of experience—and is regularly monitored by on-site staff to ensure physical and emotional recovery. Sanctuary operations are funded in part by visitor fees, which directly support rescue efforts, food supply, and medical treatment.

We warmly welcome our guests to take part in this journey by creating authentic, respectful, and unforgettable experiences with our elephants. Visitors are invited to spend meaningful time with these majestic animals in a serene, natural setting—free from crowds, noise, or exploitation. Whether preparing food, walking side by side, or simply observing their peaceful routines, each moment is designed to foster awareness, connection, and appreciation for elephant welfare and conservation.

Small Groups, Meaningful Experiences We keep our tours intimate and personal, with a maximum of 1–4 guests per elephant. This approach ensures a relaxed, respectful atmosphere for both our visitors and the elephants, minimizing stress and enhancing connection.

🚫 No Riding – Only Ethical Encounters We promote only responsible, non-intrusive interactions. Guests are welcome to feed the elephants, walk beside them, and observe their natural behaviors—always on the elephants’ terms, and never with rides or performances.

Giving Back to Elephants and Communities Every visit helps make a difference. A portion of each booking supports vital elephant welfare initiatives, including the Southern Thailand Elephant Foundation’s free veterinary hospital, and contributes to local community development and conservation education.
