Koh Samui Explorer Half Day Tour

Discover the highlights of Koh Samui in just half a day on this unforgettable Koh Samui Explorer Half Day Tour with Phuket Travel Store. This exciting guided trip takes you through the island’s most famous landmarks, cultural attractions, and scenic viewpoints. From the stunning Big Buddha Temple to the mysterious Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks, and the sacred Wat Khunaram Temple, this is the perfect introduction to the island’s natural beauty and spiritual heritage.

Explore Big Buddha Temple – The Icon of Koh Samui

Your journey begins at Big Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Yai), the most iconic landmark of Koh Samui. The temple is located on a small rocky island connected to the main island by a short causeway. The 12-meter-tall golden statue of Lord Buddha sits majestically on a hilltop, symbolizing calmness and enlightenment. As you climb the steps to the top, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding sea, nearby islands, and coastal villages. It’s an inspiring spot for photography and a great way to start your day with peace and positive energy.

The Big Buddha Temple is not only a place of worship but also a center of daily life for locals. You may see monks collecting alms, locals offering flowers and incense, and visitors seeking blessings for good luck and happiness.

Marvel at the Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks

Next, the tour takes you to one of Koh Samui’s most photographed natural attractions — Hin Ta and Hin Yai Rocks. Known humorously as the Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks, these fascinating rock formations were shaped naturally by wind and water over thousands of years.

Located on the southern coastline near Lamai Beach, the rocks resemble male and female anatomy and are surrounded by legends about love and family. Whether you find them amusing, intriguing, or simply beautiful, they offer a perfect mix of humor and geology that makes everyone smile. The area also has small local stalls selling coconut ice cream, handmade souvenirs, and beach sarongs — a great place to enjoy the tropical atmosphere.

Discover the Guan Yu Shrine – A Tribute to Heritage

Continue your journey to the Guan Yu Shrine, a cultural highlight that represents Koh Samui’s Chinese-Thai community. This magnificent shrine features a 16-meter-tall bronze statue of Guan Yu, a legendary Chinese warrior known for loyalty, bravery, and justice.

The Guan Yu Shrine is the largest of its kind in Thailand and beautifully designed with red and gold details. It’s a meaningful stop that reflects the deep connection between Thai and Chinese cultures. The peaceful courtyard and detailed architecture make this a wonderful spot for reflection and photographs.

Visit Wat Khunaram – The Mummified Monk

A spiritual highlight of the tour is the visit to Wat Khunaram, home to the famous mummified monk, Luang Por Daeng. This revered monk passed away over 30 years ago while meditating, and remarkably, his body shows little sign of decay. He now sits in a glass case wearing traditional saffron robes and sunglasses, which have become a symbol of peace and discipline for locals and visitors alike.

The temple itself is a serene place surrounded by lush tropical scenery. Many locals come here to pay respect and make offerings for good fortune. It’s a fascinating cultural experience that connects visitors to Thailand’s deep spiritual traditions.

Enjoy Nature at Na Muang Waterfall

Your next stop is Na Muang 1 Waterfall, one of Koh Samui’s most beautiful natural attractions. The waterfall cascades 18 meters into a natural pool below, surrounded by dense tropical forest. It’s an ideal place to cool off, take photos, or simply relax in nature’s embrace.

During the rainy season, the waterfall is at its most powerful, and the fresh mountain air adds a refreshing feeling to your day. For those who love adventure and scenic beauty, Na Muang Waterfall is a must-see stop.

Here you can browse local markets and shops offering authentic Samui products, such as coconut oil, handmade soaps, Thai silk, local snacks, and souvenirs. It’s a great opportunity to support local artisans and take home a small memory of your island adventure.

Ayutthaya

We would like to thank the Phuket Travel Store, especially Sunee for organizing some of our tours in Thailand. The team was really professional and we always had quick replies to our queries. We visited the Palais Royal de Bang Pa-In, in Ayutthaya the Wat Maha That and had a boat tour back to Bangkok with lunch. Our guide was kind and knowledgeable, we had a great day. Everything went well apart from the French guide not being available resulting in last minute changes and the boat/van not being completely wheelchair adapted. With help it was possible. I suggested either a car with a big booth for manual wheelchair users or a van with wheelchair ramp. Thank you for improving accessibility.
