Discover the best of Koh Samui at your own pace with the Koh Samui Explorer Full Day Private Tour, exclusively offered by Phuket Travel Store. This private guided tour combines culture, nature, and local charm — giving you a full-day island experience filled with unforgettable highlights. Visit Big Buddha Temple, Wat Plai Laem, Hin Ta and Hin Yai Rocks, Guan Yu Shrine, Wat Khunaram, and Na Muang Waterfall, while enjoying an authentic Thai lunch at a local restaurant.

Whether it’s your first time on Koh Samui or you’re returning to explore deeper, this private tour is perfect for travelers who want comfort, flexibility, and the freedom to enjoy each attraction without the rush of a group schedule.

Big Buddha Temple – Wat Phra Yai

Start your morning at the island’s most famous landmark, the Big Buddha Temple, located on a small island connected by a bridge to the main coast. The 12-meter golden statue of Lord Buddha sits peacefully above the ocean, symbolizing enlightenment and compassion. As you climb the steps, you’ll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the coastline, fishing villages, and offshore islands.

The temple grounds are home to smaller shrines, souvenir stalls, and local vendors selling amulets and incense. Take time to observe the morning rituals or simply enjoy the calm spiritual atmosphere before continuing your island adventure.

Wat Plai Laem – A Colorful Spiritual Sanctuary

Your next stop is Wat Plai Laem, a magnificent Buddhist temple featuring an 18-armed statue of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion. Surrounded by a serene lake filled with fish and lotus flowers, this temple beautifully represents the blend of Thai and Chinese architecture.

The intricate murals, bright red and gold tones, and tranquil setting make it one of Koh Samui’s most photogenic spots. Visitors often release fish into the lake for good luck — a gesture of kindness deeply rooted in Buddhist belief.

Hin Ta and Hin Yai Rocks – Nature’s Curiosity

Travel south to Lamai Beach to see the island’s most amusing natural attraction — the Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks (Hin Ta and Hin Yai). These oddly shaped rock formations have been sculpted by the sea over centuries and resemble male and female anatomy.

The rocks are a source of laughter and fascination for tourists, but they also hold a local legend about eternal love and devotion. The surrounding area offers small shops selling coconut candy, tropical drinks, and handmade souvenirs — perfect for a short break by the sea.

Guan Yu Shrine – A Symbol of Courage and Loyalty

Continue to the impressive Guan Yu Shrine, home to Thailand’s tallest statue of the Chinese warrior Guan Yu, standing 16 meters high. This shrine celebrates the cultural harmony between Thai and Chinese communities on Koh Samui. The statue’s grand scale and vibrant design make it a remarkable cultural landmark.

Visitors can learn about Guan Yu’s story of loyalty and bravery, admire the intricate dragon motifs, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of this sacred site.

Wat Khunaram – The Mummified Monk Temple

The journey then leads you to Wat Khunaram, where you can see the mummified body of Luang Por Daeng, one of Koh Samui’s most revered monks. Sitting in a glass case in a meditation posture, his body has remained remarkably preserved for over 30 years.

Local Buddhists come here to pay respect and seek spiritual guidance. For visitors, it’s a chance to understand Thai Buddhist teachings about impermanence, mindfulness, and the peaceful acceptance of life’s cycle. It’s one of the most thought-provoking and culturally rich stops on the tour.

Na Muang 1 Waterfall – Koh Samui’s Natural Gem

After the temples and heritage sites, relax in nature at Na Muang 1 Waterfall. This beautiful 18-meter cascade flows into a natural pool, surrounded by lush jungle and cool mountain air. You can dip your feet in the water, take photos of the tropical scenery, or simply enjoy the tranquil sounds of nature.

The name “Na Muang” means “purple face,” referring to the color of the rock when wet. This spot is a favorite among photographers and nature lovers.

Ayutthaya

We would like to thank the Phuket Travel Store, especially Sunee for organizing some of our tours in Thailand. The team was really professional and we always had quick replies to our queries. We visited the Palais Royal de Bang Pa-In, in Ayutthaya the Wat Maha That and had a boat tour back to Bangkok with lunch. Our guide was kind and knowledgeable, we had a great day. Everything went well apart from the French guide not being available resulting in last minute changes and the boat/van not being completely wheelchair adapted. With help it was possible. I suggested either a car with a big booth for manual wheelchair users or a van with wheelchair ramp. Thank you for improving accessibility.
