Starting with an early 7:00 AM hotel pickup in Chiang Mai, this Chiang Rai full-day tour from Chiang Mai allows you to make the most of your day while traveling comfortably in a private air-conditioned vehicle to Chiang Rai. Enjoy the changing scenery of Northern Thailand as you leave Chiang Mai behind and travel through green countryside, mountain landscapes and local communities towards Chiang Rai.
Explore Chiang Rai from Chiang Mai
A private Chiang Rai tour from Chiang Mai is an excellent choice for travelers who want to experience the unique temples and artistic heritage of Northern Thailand in one day. Chiang Rai is famous for its contemporary temple architecture, traditional Lanna influences and creative works by some of Thailand's best-known modern artists.
Unlike a standard group excursion, a private tour from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai gives you a more comfortable and personal way to discover the region. You can relax during the long-distance journey and enjoy the attractions without having to travel as part of a large group.
The tour focuses on three exceptional cultural landmarks, each offering a completely different experience.
White Temple – Wat Rong Khun

The first major highlight of your Chiang Rai 3 temples tour is the spectacular White Temple (Wat Rong Khun). Located outside Chiang Rai city, this extraordinary temple has become one of the most recognizable landmarks in Thailand.
The White Temple Chiang Rai is famous for its brilliant white architecture, delicate carvings and reflective mirror mosaics. Created by renowned Thai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, the temple combines Buddhist symbolism with contemporary artistic design.
As you walk around the temple grounds, you will notice incredibly detailed decorations throughout the buildings. The white color represents purity, while the sparkling glass and mirror elements create a magical appearance when illuminated by the sunlight.
The temple is very different from traditional Thai temples, making Wat Rong Khun a fascinating destination for photography, architecture and culture lovers. Take your time to admire the intricate details and discover the symbolism incorporated into this remarkable work of art.
Blue Temple – Wat Rong Suea Ten

Continue your Chiang Rai temple tour with a visit to the beautiful Blue Temple (Wat Rong Suea Ten). Known locally as Wat Rong Suea Ten, this striking temple is one of Chiang Rai's most visually impressive modern Buddhist temples.
The Blue Temple Chiang Rai is instantly recognizable because of its deep blue and sapphire-colored architecture, which is beautifully contrasted by bright golden details. Inside, colorful murals cover the walls and create a dramatic yet peaceful atmosphere.
A large white Buddha image provides the centerpiece of the interior, surrounded by vibrant blue artwork and traditional Buddhist imagery. The temple combines elements of traditional Lanna architecture with contemporary artistic design.
Visiting the Blue Temple after the White Temple provides an interesting contrast. While the White Temple is dominated by bright white and reflective details, the Blue Temple uses rich colors, golden decoration and intricate murals to create a completely different atmosphere.
Black House – Baan Dam Museum

Your cultural journey continues with the fascinating Black House (Baan Dam Museum). Although it is not a traditional temple, Baan Dam is an important artistic and cultural attraction in Chiang Rai and provides a fascinating contrast to the White and Blue Temples.
The Black House Chiang Rai was created by the late Thai artist Thawan Duchanee, one of Thailand's most influential contemporary artists. The site consists of a collection of distinctive dark-colored buildings influenced by traditional Lanna architecture.
Inside and around the buildings, you can discover unusual artwork, sculptures, traditional objects and ancient-looking artifacts. The dark, mysterious atmosphere makes Baan Dam very different from the bright and colorful temples visited earlier in the day.
Together, the White Temple, Blue Temple and Black House create a fascinating journey through contemporary Thai art, Buddhist symbolism and Northern Thailand's cultural heritage.

Customer Testimonials
Yaowarat Bangkok Food Tour
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This food tour was one of the highlights of our visit to Bangkok! We booked through Phuket Travel Store, and everything was perfectly arranged from start to finish. Our guide was excellent—friendly, informative, and full of interesting stories about Bangkok's Chinatown and its amazing food scene. We sampled a fantastic variety of authentic dishes at local eateries and street food stalls, all of which were delicious. The portions were generous, the pace was relaxed, and the experience felt very authentic. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bangkok. Booking through Phuket Travel Store made everything easy, and we couldn't have been happier with the experience!
Excellent company for airport transfers & excursions
We booked x2 transfers and the hong by starlight tour a few months before our holiday. Communication was quick and informative, and when we arrived to Thailand, kept regulaly informed by whats app. Transfers were alll on time, with clean and very good sized transport. However the highlight of our whole holiday was the John Gray Sea Canoes trip. A full day out with absolutely stunning scenery, we were allocated a private guide per x2 passengers who were so friendly and informative, taking photos and pointing out wildlife when out on the canoes. The food onboard was the best we have ever had on a boat trip, the coconut milk pudding with rainbow tapioca balls was deemed the best dessert ever by the kids! Making the kratong and floating it at sunset was a beautiful event and the lit up bioluminence after dark in the caves was again a memory we will all trwasuee forever. If you're going to book one trip, make it the John Gray Canoes - you wont regret it!
Excellent day!
Excellent day by boat to visit the 4 islands, the guide was super friendly and welcoming. The day was rhythmic but lorgic with 4 islands to visit! And end around 2:30 pm so it’s rather nice to return quietly to the hotel not too late! Nice discovery, I recommend!
