Explore the Historic Temples of Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is one of Thailand's most culturally significant cities, with a history stretching back more than 700 years. Founded in 1296 as the capital of the Lanna Kingdom, the city developed a distinctive architectural and religious tradition that can still be seen throughout its temples and historic Old City.
On this private Chiang Mai sightseeing tour, you will visit five important temples, each offering something different. Your guide will introduce you to their history, architecture and religious significance while allowing you time to explore, take photographs and appreciate the peaceful atmosphere.
The tour is ideal for travelers interested in Thai culture, Buddhist temples, history, architecture and authentic experiences in Chiang Mai.
Wat Suan Dok

Your temple journey includes a visit to Wat Suan Dok, one of Chiang Mai's most distinctive historic temples. The temple is famous for its large golden chedi and impressive collection of white stupas.
The temple grounds are also closely connected with the history of Chiang Mai's royal family, with the ashes of members of the former royal family preserved within the temple complex.
Take time to walk through the peaceful grounds and admire the combination of traditional Lanna temple architecture, golden religious structures and white chedis. Your guide can explain the importance of the temple and its connection to Chiang Mai's royal and Buddhist heritage.
Wat Phra Singh

Continue to Wat Phra Singh, one of the most important temples in the historic center of Chiang Mai. Dating back to the 14th century, this magnificent temple complex is renowned for its beautiful Lanna architecture, detailed decorations and historic buildings.
Wat Phra Singh is particularly famous for its religious importance and the revered Phra Singh Buddha image. The temple complex also includes impressive traditional buildings and a historic library.
As you explore, look closely at the intricate details of the architecture and decorative elements that demonstrate the artistic traditions of the old Lanna Kingdom. For visitors interested in Chiang Mai history and culture, Wat Phra Singh is an essential stop.
Wat Chedi Luang

Next, visit the magnificent Wat Chedi Luang, one of the most recognizable historic temples in Chiang Mai.
The temple is best known for its enormous ancient chedi, which once stood considerably taller before being damaged over the centuries. Even today, the impressive structure provides a remarkable glimpse into the architectural achievements of the Lanna Kingdom.
Walk around the temple grounds and admire the traditional buildings surrounding the ancient chedi. The combination of historic brickwork, elegant temple architecture and religious monuments makes Wat Chedi Luang one of the highlights of any Chiang Mai temple sightseeing tour.
Your guide can share stories about the temple's history and its importance to Chiang Mai's religious heritage.
Wat Chet Yot – Temple of the Seven Spires

The next stop is Wat Chet Yot, also known as the Temple of the Seven Spires. This unique temple is different from many of Chiang Mai's other temples because of its unusual architectural design.
The central structure features seven distinctive spires inspired by Indian Buddhist architecture, creating one of the most unusual and interesting temple complexes in Northern Thailand.
Wat Chet Yot offers a quieter experience and provides an excellent opportunity to appreciate the mixture of Lanna, Thai and Indian-inspired Buddhist architecture. Explore the historic grounds and discover the detailed stucco decorations and ancient structures surrounding the temple.
For travelers who enjoy photography and historic architecture, this is a particularly interesting part of the Chiang Mai private temple tour.
Wat Chiang Man

Finish your temple sightseeing at Wat Chiang Man, the oldest temple in Chiang Mai. Built during the early period of the city's history, the temple is closely connected with the foundation of Chiang Mai.
Wat Chiang Man is home to important sacred Buddha images and a distinctive chedi surrounded by stone elephant figures. The combination of the ancient chedi, traditional temple buildings and elephant decorations creates a fascinating final stop on your cultural journey.
Your guide will explain the temple's historical importance and introduce you to some of the Buddhist traditions associated with this ancient site.

Yaowarat Bangkok Food Tour
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This food tour was one of the highlights of our visit to Bangkok! We booked through Phuket Travel Store, and everything was perfectly arranged from start to finish. Our guide was excellent—friendly, informative, and full of interesting stories about Bangkok's Chinatown and its amazing food scene. We sampled a fantastic variety of authentic dishes at local eateries and street food stalls, all of which were delicious. The portions were generous, the pace was relaxed, and the experience felt very authentic. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bangkok. Booking through Phuket Travel Store made everything easy, and we couldn't have been happier with the experience!
Excellent company for airport transfers & excursions
We booked x2 transfers and the hong by starlight tour a few months before our holiday. Communication was quick and informative, and when we arrived to Thailand, kept regulaly informed by whats app. Transfers were alll on time, with clean and very good sized transport. However the highlight of our whole holiday was the John Gray Sea Canoes trip. A full day out with absolutely stunning scenery, we were allocated a private guide per x2 passengers who were so friendly and informative, taking photos and pointing out wildlife when out on the canoes. The food onboard was the best we have ever had on a boat trip, the coconut milk pudding with rainbow tapioca balls was deemed the best dessert ever by the kids! Making the kratong and floating it at sunset was a beautiful event and the lit up bioluminence after dark in the caves was again a memory we will all trwasuee forever. If you're going to book one trip, make it the John Gray Canoes - you wont regret it!
Excellent day!
Excellent day by boat to visit the 4 islands, the guide was super friendly and welcoming. The day was rhythmic but lorgic with 4 islands to visit! And end around 2:30 pm so it’s rather nice to return quietly to the hotel not too late! Nice discovery, I recommend!
