Bangkok Full Day Bicycle Tour

Discover the Hidden Bangkok by Bike, Boat, and Train

Embark on an unforgettable full-day bicycle tour of Bangkok with Phuket Travel Store, where city life, local culture, and natural charm come together in one immersive experience. Perfect for adventurous travelers and curious explorers, this unique Bangkok tour combines cycling, local train rides, and traditional longtail boats to show you sides of the Thai capital that most visitors never see.

This isn’t your average Bangkok city tour. This is an authentic journey into the soul of Bangkok, from bustling Chinatown alleyways to serene canals and quiet suburban communities. Whether you're a cycling enthusiast or simply want to experience something truly local and off the beaten path, this Bangkok full day bike tour is made for you.

Start in the Heart of Bangkok

Your full-day adventure begins in the beating heart of Bangkok. We’ll set off from Chinatown, pedaling through narrow backstreets filled with vibrant street art, colorful markets, and the intoxicating smells of Thai street food. This part of the bicycle tour is designed to awaken your senses and immerse you in the energetic spirit of Bangkok’s old town.

You’ll ride through areas untouched by mass tourism, gaining insight into local daily life, historic shrines, and communities steeped in tradition. As you cycle through bustling urban scenery, your guide will share stories that give context to the cultural richness surrounding you.

Ride the Train to the City's Outskirts

From here, we switch gears—literally and figuratively—by hopping on a classic Thai commuter train. This short yet scenic railway journey takes us away from the urban chaos and into the peaceful outskirts of Bangkok. As we leave the skyscrapers behind, the landscape transforms into lush greenery and quaint neighborhoods. You’ll see firsthand how dramatically the environment changes just a short ride from the city center.

Once we disembark, our bicycles are ready to take us deeper into these calm surroundings. Ride through quiet roads, palm-lined pathways, and peaceful communities where life moves at a slower pace.

Authentic Thai Lunch and Local Encounters

No Thai adventure would be complete without indulging in the local cuisine. On this Bangkok full day tour, we stop for lunch at a family-owned restaurant that serves authentic Thai dishes full of flavor and warmth. Enjoy a freshly prepared meal while getting a glimpse into the hospitality of suburban Thai life. Vegetarian and vegan options are always available—just let us know in advance!

Along the route, we pass through both Buddhist and Muslim communities that coexist harmoniously. You'll see temples and mosques standing peacefully side by side, and your guide will explain how these diverse communities contribute to Bangkok's rich cultural mosaic.

Return by Longtail Boat and Skytrain

For the return leg of the journey, it’s time to trade two wheels for water. Climb aboard a traditional longtail boat and cruise through the canals, often referred to as the “Venice of the East.” This relaxing boat ride is one of the highlights of the Bangkok full day bicycle tour, offering unique views of riverside life, wooden houses on stilts, and lush green riverbanks.

To cap off the day, we jump on the BTS Skytrain and glide above Bangkok’s skyline, offering panoramic views of the bustling metropolis. It’s the perfect way to see just how far you’ve traveled—and how much of the city you’ve truly experienced.

Custom Comfort on Co van Kessel Yellow Bikes

All our guests ride on our signature Co van Kessel yellow bicycles, specially designed for comfort and ease of use in Bangkok’s urban terrain.

Our bikes feature:

  • Upright seating position for better visibility
  • Step-through frame for easy mounting and dismounting
  • Hand brakes and smooth handling
  • Front basket for personal belongings

We offer bikes for all sizes and ages:

  • Regular bikes for riders 156–210 cm tall
  • Small bikes for riders 120–155 cm
  • Child seats (up to 35 kg) and baby seats (up to 10 kg)

Everyone from young children to active seniors has successfully joined our tours, making it a great family-friendly activity in Bangkok.

Safety and Pace

Your safety and comfort are our top priority. This Bangkok bike tour is designed to be leisurely and relaxing. We avoid main roads and ride primarily on:

  • Small alleyways
  • Local side streets
  • Quiet footpaths along canals

The pace is easy, with frequent stops every 10–20 minutes for sightseeing, snacks, or drinks. While the ride is gentle, we do recommend that participants feel comfortable on a bicycle and have a reasonable sense of balance, as some sections include raised paths and narrow lanes.

Free helmets are available for both adults and children.

Weather and Climate

Bangkok’s tropical weather is no obstacle to enjoying this cycling tour. The terrain is completely flat, and the cycling pace naturally generates a cooling breeze. We spend much of the time in shaded areas and make regular stops for cold drinks and breaks.

During the rainy season (July–September), showers are usually short-lived and localized. In case of sudden rain, our guides know nearby shelters and continue the tour when it’s safe and dry again. Rain ponchos are available if needed.

10.00 AM: Meeting Point & Time

Start Time: 10:00 AM

Meeting Point: Provided upon booking (easily accessible by MRT or BTS)

Start in Vibrant Chinatown

Your full-day adventure begins in the heart of Bangkok’s Chinatown, one of the oldest and most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. After meeting your licensed local guide, you’ll receive a brief safety orientation and a quick bike check. Once ready, set off on two wheels and immerse yourself in the electric atmosphere of Chinatown’s narrow lanes, where the energy of daily life unfolds around every corner.

Cycle past sizzling street food stalls, ornate Chinese temples, bustling markets, and historic shophouses as your guide shares insights into the cultural richness of the area. This section of the tour offers a close-up view of a neighborhood where traditions run deep, and every turn reveals something new. It’s the perfect start to your journey into Bangkok’s lesser-seen treasures.

Ride the Local Commuter Train

After your initial ride, it’s time to experience an authentic slice of Thai life. Board a classic Thai commuter train, traveling with your bicycle to the peaceful outskirts of Bangkok. This isn’t a tourist train—it’s the same mode of transport used by local workers and families every day.

As the train rattles out of the city center, you’ll pass through changing scenery, from urban hustle to tranquil suburbs. This leg of the journey offers not just a break from cycling but also a meaningful look at the rhythm of daily life for millions of Bangkok residents. For many visitors, this is a rare and memorable experience of real Thai transport culture.

Cycle Through Bangkok’s Green Suburbs

Upon arriving at the suburban station, disembark with your bike and begin the next cycling segment. The contrast is immediate and refreshing—gone are the busy roads and towering buildings. In their place, you’ll find quiet neighborhoods, green parks, and tree-lined streets where locals live at a more relaxed pace.

Pedal through these peaceful areas as you encounter a side of Bangkok few tourists ever see. You’ll ride past colorful Buddhist temples and humble mosques, observing the remarkable coexistence of different religious communities. Your guide will point out historical landmarks and explain how these Buddhist and Muslim neighborhoods have lived in harmony for generations. The open spaces, fresh air, and community spirit make this part of the ride both calming and culturally rich.

Stop for Authentic Thai Lunch

Midway through the tour, stop for a delicious break at a family-run Thai restaurant tucked away in the suburbs. Here, you'll enjoy a freshly prepared meal featuring regional Thai specialties made with love and local ingredients. Whether it’s spicy stir-fried dishes, refreshing salads, or comforting curries, you’ll savor a true taste of home-style Thai cuisine.

This meal isn’t just about food—it’s a window into the daily life and warmth of Thai families. Vegetarian options are available, and your guide will make sure any dietary preferences are accommodated. It’s the perfect moment to rest, refuel, and enjoy a genuine Thai hospitality experience in a serene setting.

Return to the City by Longtail Boat

After lunch, your bicycle adventure takes a scenic turn as you exchange wheels for water. Board a traditional longtail boat and set off on a relaxing journey through Bangkok’s canal network, also known as the klongs. As you glide through the waterways, you’ll pass by stilted wooden homes, quiet backwater temples, and lush tropical gardens.

These canals offer a glimpse into what Bangkok looked like in decades past—before roads replaced rivers as the city’s main arteries. The boat ride not only provides a tranquil break but also showcases why Bangkok is often called the “Venice of the East.” This segment is peaceful, photogenic, and full of charm.

06.00 PM: Skytrain Ride with a View

Your final leg of the journey brings you back into the modern city via the BTS Skytrain, Bangkok’s elevated transit system. After the intimacy of the suburbs and canals, the skytrain offers a grand, sweeping view of the metropolis from above.

As you glide along, enjoy a panoramic perspective of Bangkok’s skyline, a fitting contrast to the quiet corners you explored earlier in the day. This smooth, efficient ride is the perfect way to conclude a tour that has blended old and new, nature and urban life, and local experiences with real adventure.
