Bangkok 5 Hour Bicycle And Boat Combo Tour

Discover the many sides of Thailand’s capital city on our immersive Bangkok 5-Hour Bicycle and Boat Tour—an unforgettable combination of cycling and longtail boating. Offered by Phuket Travel Store, this unique tour explores the fast-paced urban life of Chinatown, the tranquil canal communities of Thonburi, and the lush green zones of forgotten plantations. Ideal for travelers seeking an authentic, eco-friendly, and active way to experience Bangkok, this guided tour delivers a perfect balance of culture, adventure, and local charm.

Begin Your Journey in Vibrant Chinatown

Your experience begins in the heart of Bangkok’s Chinatown, one of the oldest and most bustling districts in the city. Known for its maze of markets, narrow alleyways, and aromatic food stalls, Chinatown is the perfect place to start your bicycle tour. As you gear up and meet your friendly local guide, you’ll be introduced to your custom-designed city bike and receive a safety briefing.

Pedal through tight side streets and colorful shopfronts, where the smells of roasted duck, incense, and exotic spices fill the air. This part of Bangkok is alive with energy and tradition—street food vendors, gold shops, Chinese temples, and traditional apothecaries line your route. This cultural richness is a highlight of the Bangkok bicycle tour experience.

Board a Traditional Longtail Boat and Cruise the Canals

After exploring the energetic streets of Chinatown, it's time to switch gears. Your bike is safely loaded onto a traditional Thai longtail boat, and you set off on a serene canal cruise through the city’s famous waterways. Often referred to as the “Venice of the East,” Bangkok’s khlongs (canals) offer a glimpse into a way of life that has remained unchanged for generations.

Glide past wooden stilt houses, local temples, and friendly residents washing clothes or relaxing on their porches. Watch children splash in the water and fishermen casting their nets—this is real, everyday Bangkok away from the tourist crowds. The boat portion of the tour provides a rare look at the city’s history and how locals have lived with the water for centuries.

This peaceful interlude offers the perfect contrast to the vibrant streets of Chinatown and reminds you of Bangkok’s deep cultural connection to its canals.

Return to Two Wheels and Explore Green Bangkok

Back on dry land, your cycling adventure continues into Bangkok’s hidden green spaces. As you pedal further from the urban core, you’ll find yourself surrounded by tropical vegetation and quiet communities. These forgotten pockets of the city, once flourishing agricultural areas, now provide a peaceful and picturesque ride.

Cycle along narrow elevated paths, past banana trees, orchid farms, and lotus ponds. These green zones feel a world away from the city’s chaos but are still within reach of central Bangkok. This part of the tour is not just refreshing—it’s eye-opening. You’ll experience how diverse and multi-layered Bangkok truly is.

Enjoy a Delicious Thai-Style Meal

Midway through the tour, you'll stop to enjoy a light local Thai meal at a neighborhood restaurant. Prepared fresh and served in a relaxed atmosphere, this meal is a perfect way to recharge before continuing your journey. Vegetarian and special dietary options are always available—just let your guide know at the start of the tour.

Savor traditional dishes made with local ingredients, and perhaps enjoy a cold drink as you chat with your guide and fellow travelers. It’s a tasty, communal moment that adds flavor to your Bangkok exploration.

Wrap Up with a Leisurely Ride Back to Chinatown

After the meal, you’ll cycle back through serene neighborhoods and winding alleys, eventually returning to Chinatown. This final leg of the tour lets you reflect on the contrast between old and new Bangkok—between riverside calm and city chaos, between lush green paths and concrete alleyways.

By the end of this 5-hour adventure, you'll not only have seen multiple sides of Bangkok—you'll have felt its heartbeat, connected with its people, and experienced the city in a way most travelers never do.

Custom Comfort on Co van Kessel Yellow Bikes

All our guests ride on our signature Co van Kessel yellow bicycles, specially designed for comfort and ease of use in Bangkok’s urban terrain.

Our bikes feature:

  • Upright seating position for better visibility
  • Step-through frame for easy mounting and dismounting
  • Hand brakes and smooth handling
  • Front basket for personal belongings

We offer bikes for all sizes and ages:

  • Regular bikes for riders 156–210 cm tall
  • Small bikes for riders 120–155 cm
  • Child seats (up to 35 kg) and baby seats (up to 10 kg)

Everyone from young children to active seniors has successfully joined our tours, making it a great family-friendly activity in Bangkok.

Safety and Pace

Your safety and comfort are our top priority. This Bangkok bike tour is designed to be leisurely and relaxing. We avoid main roads and ride primarily on:

  • Small alleyways
  • Local side streets
  • Quiet footpaths along canals

The pace is easy, with frequent stops every 10–20 minutes for sightseeing, snacks, or drinks. While the ride is gentle, we do recommend that participants feel comfortable on a bicycle and have a reasonable sense of balance, as some sections include raised paths and narrow lanes.

Free helmets are available for both adults and children.

Weather and Climate

Bangkok’s tropical weather is no obstacle to enjoying this cycling tour. The terrain is completely flat, and the cycling pace naturally generates a cooling breeze. We spend much of the time in shaded areas and make regular stops for cold drinks and breaks.

During the rainy season (July–September), showers are usually short-lived and localized. In case of sudden rain, our guides know nearby shelters and continue the tour when it’s safe and dry again. Rain ponchos are available if needed.

07.00 AM or 01.00 PM: Meeting Point

Meet your friendly local guide at Co van Kessel Bangkok Tours office, located in the heart of Chinatown. After a warm welcome and safety briefing, you'll be fitted with a high-quality bicycle and helmet. Whether you're a morning explorer or prefer an afternoon ride, both time slots offer a unique perspective of Bangkok’s changing rhythms. This is the perfect start to your immersive urban adventure.

Cycle Through Historic Chinatown

Our journey begins in Bangkok’s legendary Chinatown, one of the oldest and most vibrant districts in the city. As we weave through a maze of narrow alleyways, you’ll witness the daily hustle of local life—vendors selling gold, herbs, and noodles, temples echoing with chants, and motorbikes zipping by. This bustling neighborhood is a sensory overload in the best way, and it sets the tone for a truly local experience.

Explore Hidden Alleyways and Backstreets

Leave the main roads behind as we navigate the narrow backstreets and community lanes that showcase a side of Bangkok that most visitors never see. This part of the ride brings you close to local families, small schools, and tucked-away shrines. It's peaceful, intimate, and offers incredible photo opportunities. Your guide will share fascinating stories about Thai culture, daily rituals, and how these hidden neighborhoods function like small villages within the city.

Cruise the Canals by Longtail Boat

Midway through the tour, we trade bicycles for a classic Thai longtail boat. This relaxing canal ride takes you through the lesser-known waterways of Bangkok, earning it the nickname “Venice of the East.” You’ll glide past serene waterside homes, spot children playing by the banks, and see daily life unfold along wooden walkways. This unique boat journey offers a tranquil break from the busy streets and allows you to see how locals live by the water, just as they have for generations.

Thai-Style Meal Stop

After the boat ride, we stop for a well-deserved break and enjoy an authentic Thai-style meal or refreshing local snack. The food varies by time of day and season but always reflects the real flavors of Thailand—fresh, fragrant, and full of character. This pause is the perfect time to chat with your guide, exchange impressions with fellow travelers, and recharge for the final leg of the tour.

12.00 PM or 06.00 PM: Cycle Through Green Plantations and Return

Rejuvenated, we return to our bikes and venture into surprisingly lush green zones tucked behind the urban sprawl. These pockets of plantation and garden landscapes offer a peaceful contrast to the morning’s market energy. You'll cycle past banana groves, traditional wooden homes, and narrow paths shaded by palms. It’s a side of Bangkok most tourists miss—refreshing, scenic, and full of surprises. The tour ends back at Chinatown, completing your 5-hour journey through the real Bangkok.

Wonderful experience with elephants!

This was one of the most beautiful trips we've ever made. The elephants really live here species-appropriate - no riding, no coercion, just peace and respect. We could feed them, take them for a walk and experience them up close. The atmosphere was totally relaxed, nothing was overflowing or touristic exaggerated. Also the guides were super friendly and told a lot about the animals and the background of the project. You can tell immediately: Here, the welfare of animals is paramount. For those who love animals and value responsible tourism, this is an absolute must. Thanks to Phuket Travel Store for this special experience!
